Andrea studied political science at the Free University of Berlin before becoming a freelance photographer in 1994. She took a Photography master class with Prof. Arno Fischer in Berlin and lived and worked in the Middle East and Kenya between 1994 and 1998.
Andrea undertakes documentary photography projects worldwide, focusing on political, social and humanitarian themes. Her clients are distinguished magazines and newspapers, among others GEO, Time Magazine, National Geographic Traveler, Spiegel and Die Zeit, as well as NGOs.


She has received several grants and prizes for her documentary work, most recently "The European Journalist Award for Excellence in Journalism" in 2010 from the World Population Foundation. Andrea has published the books: "Menschenkinder" (2000), "Visions: Palestine" (2004) and "İSTANBULUM" (2010).


Andrea Kuenzig is based in Istanbul, Turkey.
